In 2012, as AstraZeneca restructured its R&D footprint in Södertälje, our specialized team of pathology experts saw an opportunity. We realized that Biotech and Pharma companies desperately needed high-quality, decision-driving histopathology data - but the existing CRO market offered only commodity services.
Offspring Biosciences was born to fill that gap. Today we are a group of industry veterans, delivering the depth of a major pharma department with the agility of a specialized biotech.

Chairman of the Board
Anders Nordström
Anders has a rich background in the Life Science industry as Chairman or Board member for prominent companies such as Pelago Bioscience, Vanadis Diagnostics, Cartana, Halo Genomics, Moleculent, Genagon Therapeutics, Fenomark Diagnostics and Epigenica. His expertise extends to pivotal roles, including as Senior Advisor for Business Development at Uppsala Innovation Centre, Chief Financial Officer at Phadia AB, and Vice President Finance and Administration at Pharmacia Canada. Anders also contributes as an investor in Life Science companies through his co-owned company, Colibri Ventures.

Åsa Johansson
Åsa has worked in public and private sector as well as academia and has over ten years of experience in leading positions. She has over twenty years of experience working in the field of clinical microbiology and medical biochemistry and has mastered a wide range of laboratory techniques such as e.g. proteomics, mass spectrometry, imaging, and bioinformatics. Chief Operating Officer (COO), Senior Project Manager
Dan Sunnemark
Dan has over 30 years of experience working with techniques of direct relevance to our company’s service portfolio. He was main individual responsible for the establishment of a platform for histology-based target validation in neurology at AstraZeneca R&D, Södertälje. This included the building of a bank of animal and human tissues representing various neurological disorders as well as coordinating target validation studies from early pre-clinical phase to clinical trials in phase I. He has worked as department-representative in several drug development projects where he coordinated cross-functional activities across research and therapy areas, reporting to multiple customers and stakeholders. Chief Business Officer (CBO), Project Lead
Anders Dahlstrand
Anders Dahlstrand brings over 35 years of distinguished experience in academic and pharmaceutical R&D. As a founding member of Offspring Biosciences, he recently transitioned from CEO to CBO to spearhead the company's growth initiatives through strategic business and scientific development while continuing to lead key customer projects. Prior to co-founding Offspring Biosciences, Anders established and led a specialized histopathological analysis unit at AstraZeneca, developing the strategic framework that would later inspire Offspring's service model. His extensive leadership experience spans academic research group management, project leadership, and pharmaceutical industry roles, including positions as Principal Scientist, team leader and core team representative in various management capacities. Mia Nilsson Cedwall
Mia has over 30 years of working experience with techniques relevant to services offered by Offspring Biosciences. She has worked both in academia, pharmaceutical -, cosmetic - and biotech industies, as well as with sales and marketing in a company which targets clients in the Life Sciences sector. At Offspring Biosciences, Mia is responsible for driving continuous development of our technical capabilities and capacities needed to long term deliver value to our clients. Anne Svensson
Anne has over 30 years of solid experience working with techniques for tissue based analyses in academic, biotech and CRO settings, including work as Biomedical analyst at Karolinska and at AstraZeneca R&D. Anne is one of three founders of Offspring, working as Senior Scientist, Functional project lead and Operations Manager until June 2023. Helen Jongsma Wallin
Helen has over 20 years of experience working with techniques relevant to the services offered by Offspring Biosciences. This includes solid skills from work in both academic and pharmaceutical industry settings to develop, refine and apply technologies used to address questions in in vivo pharmacology and in vitro imaging studies. At Offspring, Helen is responsible for the research project coordination spanning from early requests to signed contracts including monitoring revenue estimates. Annelie Tjernlund
Annelie serves as Project leader, with extended responsibility to drive Technical development, at Offspring Biosciences. Annelie was recruited to Offspring Biosciences in 2021 based on her expertise in immunology and tissue-based analysis. Fueled by curiosity, persistence, and goal-oriented thinking, she drives projects from conception to implementation, showcasing adept organizational skills. She brings extensive immunology experience from working in both academic and biotech settings. Beginning with a Ph.D. at Karolinska Institute, she did her postdoctoral training at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Monica Andersson Kinnwall
Monica has more than 30 years of experience in histotechnical methods relevant to the services provided by Offspring Biosciences. She has worked as a biomedical scientist in academia (University of Gothenburg, Department of Pathology, under Professor Klas Norrby), in clinical pathology units at hospitals in Gothenburg and Stockholm, and in the pharmaceutical industry (AstraZeneca, Department of Safety Assessment Pathology) as both a research scientist and project leader. Parisa Rabiei Far
Parisa has over a decade of expertise in histopathological techniques. She holds a Ph.D. in oncology from Karolinska Institute and completed her postdoctoral research at AstraZeneca. At Offspring, Parisa ensures that project deliveries meet client expectations. Senior Research Scientist
Alexandra Kuliszkiewicz
Alexandra brings more than ten years of proficiency in using tissue-based assays to address a wide range of scientific questions. She holds a PhD in cellular and molecular pain physiology from Karolinska Institute (KI) and has specialized knowledge in neuroscience, inflammation and autoimmunity. Prior to joining our team, Alexandra served as a Research Specialist at KI, where she balanced her time between investigating the impact of autoantibodies on chronic pain and providing histological support at KI’s Histological Core Facility. As Functional Project Leader at Offspring, Alexandra plays a key role in coordinating study execution, guiding experimental design, and overseeing result analysis and project reporting. 📧 Alexandra.Kuliszkiewicz@offspringbiosciences.se
